Assembled LM3886 amplifier and snubberised power supply PCBs from www.chipamp.com
Two 300VA 230v to 2x22v transformers with electrostatic screens and EMI/RFI shields from Airlink Transformers
I drilled and tapped the heat sinks so that the boards could be mounted directly to the sides of the case. I used a Soft Start module from Hypex to limit the inrush current to the transformers; this also allowed me to use a neat momentry on switch on the front panel of the case.
I used some thermal paste on the chips to improve heat transfer to the heatsinks. I was worried that the heat sinks wouldn't be large enough, but having tested the amp, they only get slightly warm, even when playing loud.
